To be simply put, asthma is not a joke.

World Asthma Day

World Asthma Day is organized by the Global Initiative for Asthma. It’s a way to raise awareness and improve asthma care around the globe.

With May 1st being World Asthma Day, we figured we’d do our part by discussing some of the things you can do to help with your or your loved one’s asthma struggles.

What is asthma?

Asthma is a condition that affects millions of people. People who suffer from asthma experience chest tightness, coughing, and breathlessness. It cannot be cured.

As you can infer, living with asthma is difficult. Furthermore, the world around asthma sufferers is full of triggers.

For instance, tobacco smoke, mold, air pollution, colds, and the flu can trigger an asthma attack. These attacks are debilitating, causing asthma sufferers to miss school and work. In addition to that, asthma can also cause death in extreme cases.

In 2007, 185 children and 3,262 adults died from asthma.

How carpet cleaning affects your asthma

So now that we’ve laid out the importance of and need for World Asthma Day, let’s discuss some practical ways we can make life better for those who suffer from asthma.

Whether you’re looking to deal with carpet at home or in the office, you’ll find our ideas universal to both situations.

What you can do to maintain your carpet at home or in the office

While carpet provides a soft cushioned surface to walk on, it can trap asthma triggers within the nooks and crannies of the carpet fibers.

There are a few things you can do to mitigate triggers that are trapped in your carpeting. By taking the extra pains to clean your carpet, you’ll be eliminating a variety of asthma triggers.

The hidden asthma triggers

Asthma triggers such as pet dander, dust mites, mold, dust, and pollens can build up easily within your carpet.

Depending on the traffic in your home or office setting, you will want to vacuum your carpet on a regular basis. To stay on top of things, especially in an office environment, we recommend setting up a cleaning schedule. You may need this schedule to tweak from time to time as the amount of foot traffic changes.

Of course, some places may require vacuuming once or twice a week. Others may merit it at the beginning of every shift.

Why you should bring the professionals

Regularly vacuuming your carpet will pick up much of the asthma triggers lurking within your carpet.

However, you will need much more than that if you want to get deep down to the microscopic level. Trapped within the fiber of your carpet are countless microscopic allergens.

A professional carpet cleaning company is well-equipped to clean deep into your carpet.

Why we’re good at what we do, as professionals

Here at Enviro-Dry, we choose the dry carpet cleaning method for your carpet cleaning needs. Dry carpet cleaning doesn’t use much water. Therefore, making the process safer and easier on your carpet.

There are five steps in this unique carpet cleaning process. At Enviro-Dry we use environmentally-friendly solutions that are safe for your clients, you, your family, and the environment.

With specially patented machines, we use a very low amount of moisture to remove the dirt and allergens built up in your carpet.

Step 1

The first step in our cleaning process entails a pre-clean vacuum. We’ll remove the larger debris with our Riccar Radiance R40. The Riccar vacuum will deep clean your carpet, suctioning up the loose dirt in your carpet.

Comparatively, with the 100% sealed HEPA media filtration system, fine dust particles will be trapped in the vacuum. This is great news as the stuff we just cleaned up won’t be released back into the air.

Step 2

The second step in the process involves spot cleaning and removing stains on the carpet. The professionals at Enviro-Dry are certified by the IICRC. This means our technicians are trained to identify the most effective means of stain removal.

Different stains will require different techniques. Our technicians know the Science behind each stain.

Step 3

Next up for the third step. This involves cleaning high-traffic and heavily soiled areas. In other words, this is where we pay extra attention to the high traffic areas in your home or office building.

We’ll pass over these areas with our oscillating pad machine and agitation pad.

Step 4

In the fourth step, we’ll spray the encapsulation crystals over the entire carpet. These crystals trap soil, dust, and allergens. It’s green and safe for the environment.

To pick up the crystals, we use the Random Orbital Oscillating Pad Machine. These machines shake the carpet up by moving from side to side and up and down. Consequently, this loosens the dirt and sucks it up into the machine.

Thanks to the minimal use of water, your carpet will be dry in minutes.
